My last stop
in Netherlands were Utrecht where Elise is living. I had heard from Dutch
people that Utrecht is very beautiful city. Before I got to discover the city
itself we went to take my backpack to Elise’s place so avoiding carrying that
around. It was four minutes long train ride, just a one stop so I was lazy and
didn’t write anything on my InterRail card. Of course that time conductor came
to check the tickets and used his authority to feel important: He asked my ticket,
after seeing it was InterRail card he asked also passport (to see does card
match for the user) and then told me to write my trip on to railcard. I
guess that all made him feel very important on his job...
Backpack is
now gone and Im ready to go to the town. Elise showed me way to walk to center
(notice: no cycling this time!) and we walked a bit around that I would be able
to manage all by myself in town on following day as she needed to work.

I liked
Utrecht, it was compact decorated by several canals and relaxing gardens. For
example Canal right in the center and restaurants on both sides of it made it
very cozy looking, kind of Mediterranean or a small garden where sun was
shining warmly –perfect place for a lunch and chill out reading a book. Second
thing worth of mentioning, that I can be proud of: I saw a windmill first time in Netherlands on my own
eyes within a close distance and were able even to walk in there! You know that
small things makes up the experiences ;) Talking about small things, absolutely
brilliant thing in Dutch trains, there is lots of space for legs so even tall
people can actually enjoy travel in those!
But have to
tell you one weird Dutch (Utrecht?) habit: We barely couldn’t sit down at one
of those restaurants to have only drinks because they would have wanted only
people who also would eat something. Only reason why it was possible now was
that it was so quiet and they needed to “negotiate” with manager etc. to know
if it was possible, I kind of felt myself important :D
After
Utrecht it was time to leave Netherlands behind and take a night train toward
new adventures… Or actually “New adventures” because I’ve been once in Bern but
this time difference is that I got a local guide there, Marc here I come!
